The Artwork

Arthur Brouthers x J Collab

100 MadeReleased August 1, 2026

When I stare at this ski I don't even know how to explain what I'm looking at. I just know his artwork looks freakin’ incredible on these skis.

Arthur Brouthers is a painter based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He pioneered an abstract fluid painting technique that creates these incredible cellular-looking separations using acrylic paint and chemical agents. The process is so unique he literally keeps it in a secret notebook, no one else knows how he does it. He's been called a pioneer of fluid painting and has exhibited internationally at Art Basel Switzerland, Sweden, and across the US.

Seeing the ski in person, you're not sure if you're looking at a microscopic organism, a galaxy, an undersea ecosystem, or something from another dimension. The colors interact in ways that feel accidental and completely intentional at the same time. There's almost a metallic quality in some sections. Every time you’re riding the chair lift or standing in the lift line, you discover new details in the art, and even tinier details within those details. This artwork is truly like no other.

We’re stoked to be putting this graphic on The Best Friend ski’s wide asymmetric pow surfboard shape. It really brings the art to life full scale, living up to the ski's energy. There are only 100 pairs made of this super Limited Edition pow ski, each hand-signed and numbered. Now’s the time to own a one-of-a-kind work of art built for the best pow days of your life.

The Best Friend

140 – 118 – 129

The widest ski in our Explore Collection for effortlessly floating and surfing the deepest days.

We’ve engineered a revolutionary new asymmetric ski shape that makes powder skiing easier for everyone! The problem with the traditional shape of powder skis is it causes your downhill ski to sink and your uphill ski to rise in deep snow. This separates your legs, making it hard to stay in control and tiring you out waaay faster than necessary. To solve this problem, we added surface area in specific places and removed it from others. The result is a pair of skis that float naturally on the same plane, helping your legs stay closer together without extra effort. It feels more like riding a single surfboard than two individual skis. This means you can ski deep snow with more confidence while using less energy, letting the skis use the natural mechanics of powder snow to do the hard work for you! No more sitting back to keep your tips up, no more backseat landings, face plants, tomahawks, or yard sales. You can ski in your natural stance, floating and turning with ease, without straining to stay in control—even on the deepest days. The unique, asymmetric shape is only on the tip and tail of the ski and will have no effect on the ski’s firm snow performance. You get the benefits of a ski with traditional sidecut and camber when charging hard on firm and chopped up conditions. Meet your NEW Best Friend! Surf’s up!

The Finest Materials

Aspen Construction

By selling these skis factory directly to you, we can invest more money into using the highest quality materials possible for a game-changing level of premium performance & durability.

Full Height Sidewalls

Maximum impact resistant & vibration dampening
We’re using super durable, high impact absorbing Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) polyethylene for our sidewalls. This is the same material we use on our ski's bases. It’s very impact resistant and since it’s full height, it also absorbs more vibration like using a longer spring in your car’s suspension. Take a metal pipe and hit it against a rock, then do the same with a piece of plastic. The metal vibrates through to your bones & the plastic absorbs the vibration for you. That’s the difference of having full height plastic shock absorbing sidewalls over your edges or not. We’re cutting the sides of the sidewalls to a 10* angle, with a nice step at the bottom for easy tuning like race skis.
