I've been hitting the glacier at Mount Hood every summer since the mid-90s to get my winter fix. After every session there's one ritual: roll up to the legendary Cobra Dogs truck for the best après dogs in the world. Those yellow flames wrapping around that bright red truck are pure optical perfection, so when we wanted to do flames on skis, we reached out to Cobra Dogs owner Derrek Lever to make it happen!
This collaboration was a no brainer – take their iconic flame design and blast it down a red Joyride ski. It's like vintage drag racing graphics but for skiers who appreciate perfectly grilled tube steaks. The Cobra Dogs branding was even created by design legend and one of our favorite past collaborators, Aaron James Draplin of the DDC. How badass is that?!
The bases are where we topped it off. Since no shape matches a ski better than a hotdog, it only made sense to use actual hot dog photos tip to tail and write "LESS SKIING, MORE HOT DOGGIN" in mustard. It's our playful nod to old-school ski slang while celebrating Derrek's dogs that have fueled decades of epic Hood sessions.
We're only making 100 pairs of these flame-kissed beauties, each hand-signed and numbered by J. With every Hood regular frothing for Cobra Dogs, these'll disappear faster than fresh glizzies at the après. Time to get hot doggin'!
