Lawson's Finest Liquids x J Collab

Released October 12, 2024

After an epic day of skiing, conversations over beers often lead us to talking about making our own beer. Lucky for us, just down the road from our local mountain, Sugarbush, are our friends at Lawson's Finest Liquids. They are a nationally recognized award winning brewer, known for their flagship “Sip of Sunshine” IPA. It’s an honor to be bringing this new Limited Edition Escalator graphic AND our first-ever beer, “Mogul Masher” Pale Ale to life, straight from the Green Mountains to you!

We worked closely with the crew to craft this collab from the ground up. After a handful of brainstorming sessions, Fank took the first crack at the trippy graphic. Then he passed the art to Lawson’s designer, Andrew, to give it that whimsical final Lawson’s Finest touch. I can’t believe how good this thing looks in person!

The name of this graphic "Masher" refers to a term given to the start of the brewing process, where crushed grains are mixed with water to form a porridge-like mixture called the “mash”. Mashing moguls is fun too, so we named the beer portion of this collab "Mogul Masher"!

We only made 200 pairs of this colorful trip to Flavortown, and with so many après-loving skiers, you know they’ll sell out fast!

We donated a portion of the proceeds, $6,000, from the sale of this ski to the Afterglow Foundation. They raise funds for suicide prevention and awareness, with deep roots in the local skiing community.

Learn more about brewing our Mogul Masher Pale Ale. It's currently available exclusively at J skis Burlington, Lawson’s Finest Liquids Taproom, and at select ski town retailers in early 2025. It’s only available during ski season, and just like our skis, once it’s sold out, it’s gone forever!

The Escalator is easy up, easy down… you CAN have your cake and eat it too!

This lighter weight, yet uniquely solid ski is built to do what you wanna do, whether that's sunrises on the skin track or spending all of your time riding lifts. The secret ingredient is a combination of a light Aspen core paired with our classic downhill ski construction for a Goldilocks feel that seamlessly blends stability with weight savings. Its 102mm waist slides perfectly into every skier’s quiver as a do-it-all tool that can lay down quick, snappy carves in bounds as effortlessly as it surfs wide open pow fields. We gave it a twin-tip shape for skiing backward and increased maneuverability in tight situations like chutes or trees. A subtle tail notch provides reliable skin clip retention for fast transitions. Add our pre-cut skins that perfectly fit the skis, and you're ready to go touring right out of the box! "The Escalator" will keep your legs fresher longer, so you can shred stronger from sunrise to last chair.

A bell to bell cruiser with the reliability, nimbleness and energy that I've been craving for a long time.

    - Freeskier Magazine

The 102mm-wide Escalator combines a pretty accessible flex pattern and freestyle-friendly design with a moderately lightweight construction, equating to a ski that a whole lot of folks could enjoy, whether you've got a park background or are a directional skier who wants something forgiving and intuitive.

    - Blister Gear Review

Takes the fun of a damp all-mountain ski and lightens it up to tour.

    - Backcountry Magazine

Lightweight, slashy and nimble. It pivots on a dime while maintaining a respectable level of stability. The fairly aggressive sidecut lends itself to a mean carve, yet you can still pivot, slash and schmear the tails. It’s a great combination for today’s creative freeride skier.

Lightweight AspenLightweight Aspen

Carbon Fiber

Lighter with more energy & pop than fiberglass
Just like fiberglass carbon needs to be fully stretched like a guitar string to give you the most pop. Unlike other brands of skis with wavy black carbon, not stretched, thus you’re not getting the energy out of it, we use pre-cured, pre-stretched carbon fiber laminates. This means the carbon is pre-stretched & cured under perfect conditions at the carbon fiber production facility prior to us receiving it. This pre-cured carbon laminate is twice the cost but also gives you many more times the performance. You’ll feel it!

Xtra Lite Core

Light weight, durable wood core for the best up and down performance
Unlike our other J skis "The Escalator" and "The Slacker" feature a 100% Aspen wood core for maximum weight reduction while maintaining the torsional resilience and dampening not found on other brand's "light weight" skis. Aspen dramatically reduces weight, giving the ski an incredibly nimble feel. The result is the best of both worlds, a ski that is light for easy ups and maneuverability, yet with power, stability and durability not typically found on other brand's lighter weight skis.

Full Height Sidewalls

Maximum impact resistant & vibration dampening
We’re using super durable, high impact absorbing Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) polyethylene for our sidewalls. This is the same material we use on our ski's bases. It’s very impact resistant and since it’s full height, it also absorbs more vibration like using a longer spring in your car’s suspension. Take a metal pipe and hit it against a rock, then do the same with a piece of plastic. The metal vibrates through to your bones & the plastic absorbs the vibration for you. That’s the difference of having full height plastic shock absorbing sidewalls over your edges or not. We’re cutting the sides of the sidewalls to a 10* angle, with a nice step at the bottom for easy tuning like race skis.

Lite Edge

More durability edges without the weight
We use hardened steel edges that are 33% thinner than our other J skis for reduced weight while still maintaining strength. We reduce the thickness by 0.2mm which is actually still thicker than other brands "light weight" skis, so they are far more durable if you accidentally hit a rock, while maintaining a much longer life when re-tuning.

Lite Base

Faster, lighter durable base material you can count on
We use a 30% thinner base that is 0.2mm thinner than our other J models to shave weight while still providing extreme durability. This base is actually thicker than other brand's "light weight" skis to guarantee you have far more durability when charging down. In addition our sintered Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is actually the highest quality base material available built to absorb wax better, slide faster, and last longer. Yup! Hard, fast and lasts longer... just like your _______ likes.

Quasitropic Fiberglass

Fibers run in 4 directions to maximize energy & strength
Fiberglass works like a guitar string, when it is flexed it wants to spring back, that’s the energy or pop you feel in a ski. However this energy can only be applied in the direction the actual fiberglass is run. This means the more directions of fiberglass, the more energy, pop & responsiveness. Industry standard “Triaxial” fiberglass runs in only three directions, we use a Quasi Isotropic fiberglass configuration, same as the aerospace industry to maximize energy & strength in as many directions as possible, 4 different axis 0, 90, +45, -45. It costs more, but it’s worth the performance.
