It’s awesome to be collaborating with Dominik Modlinski, a landscape artist originally from Poland. He made the big move to Canada years ago to attend Ontario College of Art, but it’s been the wild, untamed beauty of the Canadian Rockies that shaped his artwork the most. He’s become a rockstar of landscape paintings in the area, and looking at his work, it’s easy to see why.
This guy doesn’t just sit in a studio and paint from photos. He’s out there adventuring into remote wilderness areas, often camping for days to soak in the scenery. Using oil paints, he captures the essence of these locations with quick, expressive brushstrokes.
This painting is of Mount Assiniboine, rising over 15,000 feet along the Southern Continental Divide of the Canadian Rockies. Because of its resemblance to the Matterhorn in the Alps, it’s nicknamed the "Matterhorn of the Rockies.” Dominik returns to Mt. Assiniboine at least once a year to snowboard or hike.
I love how this piece makes you feel like you're right there, surrounded by nature’s awesomeness! We wanted to show as much of the original artwork as possible on the skis, so we applied it across the entire top AND base! It’s fun looking down at your skis, imagining yourself exploring the changing climates and terrain, from the rugged snowy peaks in the tips to the warm alpine flowers growing on the rocks in the tail.
I made only 200 pairs of this new Limited Edition graphic on “The Slacker” ski and hand-signed and numbered each pair. These skis are as one-of-a-kind as the mountains in this painting, so grab your pair before they’re gone.

A lighter ski that also charges hard, making it the least nerdy touring ski in the world.
"The Slacker" is a powder-focused ski designed with uphill efficiency in mind, while maintaining the reliable downhill performance that J skis are known for. This ski is as happy spending 100% of its time riding lifts as it is venturing off into the unknown, a unique characteristic that leaves traditional, nerdy, uphill-specific skis behind. "The Slacker's" weight-conscious Aspen core and twin-tip shape make it light and ultra-maneuverable to whip around through tight trees or chutes. A subtle tail notch provides reliable skin clip retention for fast transitions. Add our pre-cut skins that perfectly fit the skis, and you're ready to go touring right out of the box! Charge, surf, slash, play, and have more fun adventuring off the beaten path. Go get fresh tracks!

This ski is kind of a big deal!
The Slacker does a great job of maintaining much of the predictability, versatility and playfulness of J's other skis, in a lighter package.
- Blister Gear Review
Anyone can hop aboard and drive, bend, and edge and just have a good day skiing. I could hand this to anyone who wants to ski powder without working too hard.
- SKI Magazine
This is the perfect crossover ski; light, playful and stable. It has great edge-to-edge feel that makes turning feel like buttering bread with a warm knife.
- Freeskier Magazine
While lightweight, you won't sacrifice performance coming back down. If your goal is to play on bigger lines and sidecountry powder, The Slacker will help you achieve it.
- Powder Magazine
Confidence-inspiring edge hold; The Slacker is a stable ski to throw hard into turns.
