How to Make Skis

I want to give you a quick update from the ski factory. While you’ve been lounging by the pool, the crew has been elbow deep in sawdust and epoxy building your NEW SKIS! Check out these behind the scenes photos below and a new video how to make skis...

New J skis drop August 1st!

All our skis are hand crafted locally at the Utopie factory in Quebec, a few hours drive from my house. Over 200 new pairs a week are being produced and it’s almost time to slide them into a box and ship 'em directly to your front door!

Jacques applys the perfect amount of adhesive glueing our bombproof UHMW sidewalls to our light weight Aspen wood core.

All of our wood cores are locally sourced Maple and Aspen. They go through multiple CNC machines that cut and sand them to the engineered specs of each ski model.

The NEW Fastforward and Masterblaster skis have been upgraded this season to include our Dork Fork Titanal light metal shape that you see being cut to shape here. We put the metal where you need it, and remove it where you don't for the lightest skis in the all-mtn category.

Ricardo carefully positions the topsheet of our collab with artist Zuzana Riha showing off her "Twisted" painting on this new Allplay ski. This ski just became a work of art!

Said slides the mold into the press where over a ton of pressure and high heat cure the materials into the final ski shape. Soon, Frankenstein will be brought to life... it's aliiiive!

Is that a monoski?!

Nope. All our skis are pressed in pairs, then Daigoro cuts the shape of each ski along the edges. This new Escalator ski is a collab with photographer Oskar Enander. It looks even better in person!

The ski tips and tails are precision cut by this CNC machine for a guaranteed consistent shape.

Hand-tuned by robots! Meet our heavy metal armed artisans of stone grinding. These precision machines guarantee every pair of skis gets the same meticulous base and edge finish. Consistency is everything!

After RoboCop works his magic, this new Escalator ski gets passed back to the crew for waxing, buffing, and final inspection. Then shipped to your front door!
