Creating new J skis, "The Metal" & "The Vacation"
Our relentless chase to create a ski that would one-up the previous, drove Francois & I further forward than ever before this past winter. By the time we were done, we had developed over 30 different variations each tested & scrutinized to further progress the next reiteration until we dialed in every last detail needed to make this a ski award winning ski like nothing else in the category.
We spent all last winter designing, building & testing over & over again, scrutinizing every last possible detail while creating this new ski's geometry & construction. The result is a ski that has officially surpassed the hundreds of great skis we designed before it, as well as the expectations of ski industry magazines & their ski testers.
I've been designing award winning skis for 20 years now and this is the first model I've ever created that's won awards from all 4 ski magazines, it's first year!
Always starts sitting down with my friend Francois brainstorming what we the ski to be, then plugging it into CAD. Secret R&D location deep in the mountain of Monte St. Anne Quebec Canada
Guy at the factory assembling the first of many many prototypes
Mounted the first round of test skis to ski early season at Monte St. Anne Quebec
Driving early morning to Quebec to put more tweaks on the skis. . . it was a cold winter!
After testing time to tweak the core profile to dial in the flex further & tweak the rocker
More prototypes are made in many different flexes and tested on the ski flex machine before we go out skiing on them
After months of changing the design, building more prototpyes, testing again I finally have skis worthy of bringing to Freeskier, Powder, Backcountry & Skiing magazine tests. Getting em ready in my kitchen/warehouse before one of the trips.
