The first ever J skis beer!!!! Brewed in collaboration with Lawson's Finest Liquids in Waitsfield, VT, Mogul Masher Pale Ale is as fresh as first tracks! Charged with Citra and El Dorado hops, it has a vibrant, tropical hop flavor that delivers a crisp and refreshing experience, so you can après all day.

We worked closely with the team at Lawson’s Finest to craft this collab from the ground up, combining our ski-making expertise with their world-renowned brewing prowess. The process started with the creation of the "Masher" Limited Edition Escalator ski. Then Taylor spent time at the brewery working with their brewers, Chris and Andrew, to dial in a prototype of the perfect recipe for this thirst-quenching collab brew. The goal was to lean into the tropical, hop-forward beers that Lawson’s Finest is known for, but mellow it out and make it more crushable so you can après all day! The pale ale recipe we landed on is charged with Citra and El Dorado hops, delivering a vibrant, tropical hop flavor with a crisp and refreshing finish. After the prototype brew was perfected, it was time to brew our first batch!

We met up at the house where Sean Lawson started Lawson's Finest brewing out of his small barn, now used to brew small batches. It gave me flash backs to starting my first ski company "Line" out of my parent's garage. I knew nothing about brewing, so it was really cool to be able to lend a hand and learn from Brian, Lawson's Finest brewer. Don't worry, we're only using top secret J skis specialty malt for maximum gnar points!

The process is more like being in a high tech science lab. Every ingredient is carefully measured and recorded so we can recreate the recipe. The temperatures of the brew tanks and the timing of everything is all written down and carefully calculated. We can use these notes to tweak the formula later too. Pour, stir, mix, mash, check temperature, check consistency, repeat! Brian was constantly checking and referring to the recipe notes to make sure we stayed on track!

The liquid gold is eventually pumped from the main brew tank to the hot side of the system. Then we cleared out the left over MASH. "Mashing" is the term given to the start of the brewing process, where crushed grains are mixed with water to form a porridge-like mixture called the “mash” and where we were inspired to namethis brew the "Mogul Masher". Then it was pumped into a final tank where it sits for a few weeks and over time magically comes to life, eventually canned, and into your hands!

Mogul Masher Pale Ale is currently only available at J skis Intergalactic Headquarters in Burlington and Lawson's Finest Taproom in Waitsfield VT. It will be distributed to select retailers across ski towns in New England starting in January 2025. Keep an eye out for a retailer map coming soon.
