New J Powder Ski
A couple season’s ago I experienced an epic pow day skiing at Alta with Giray Dadali... Friends on a pow day! Like every east coast skier traveling west I spent my first bunch of runs trying to not flounder too much while adjusting to the deep snow. Giray being a pro powder hound and our ski engineer watched me and couldn’t resist asking, could we design a better pow ski?
After dozens of chairlift conversations, we continued dreaming and scheming late into the night. Then Giray spent two seasons chasing pow, designing and testing dozens of crazy prototype ski shapes until we found the answer… HELL YES!!!
I wanted to get you up to speed with a few pics from our research and development adventures creating a completely new pow ski like no other that's earned its name, “The Best Friend”.
Dropping in this fall...

Starting with CAD drawings and a whole lot of pow skiing experience, we're building from the ground up!
We wanted to try as many wild shapes as we could to find what works and what doesn't. We sent Giray all of these prototypes with squared tips/tails so he could start with a blank slate and shape each ski himself.
These experimental shapes were all precisely cut by hand to match Giray's CAD drawings and can be updated on the fly with a jigsaw.
Measure once, cut twice! Giray referencing one of his CAD drawings to make sure his cut matched his vision.
Field trip!!! Arguably the most fun part of developing a new ski is the on snow testing! I visited Giray on his home turf for some bottomless turns to figure out which ski shape floats the best.
Float ✅ Slash ✅ Surf ✅
After skiing all of the different versions, we go back and make tweaks based on our notes. Design, test, repeat!
