J Says Best For: Steep & Deep / Touring / Backcountry / Trees

Waist Width: 110mm

1) Look at the size of your current skis and consider if you like the length or prefer shorter or longer.

2) Remember that 2-3 cm is not going to make a huge difference. Over 5cm will start to make a difference in feel.

The chart below is for general reference based on your height, but you should also consider these other factors. . .

Choose LONGER length if you:
- Feel your current skis are too small
- Want to ski faster & float better
- Are a heavier person so want more stability
- Are an expert, aggressive skier

Choose SHORTER length if you:
- Feel your current skis are too long
- Want easier maneuverability & float in powder is less important
- Are a light weight person and want more maneuverability
- Are a beginner, casual skier

The Artwork

Jessa Gilbert x J Collab

Jessa’s “Kootenays” graphic from last season was so popular we had to invite her back from another collab! She’s an experiential landscape artist and a badass backcountry guide based out of British Columbia, not to mention, a former New Englander & UVM graduate. This particular painting is from Jessa’s #getoutoftownvibe series, which includes sketches of landscapes she sees while actively out in the field.

The scene in this piece is a common view for Jessa during her winter adventures along the Slocan River, a 60-kilometre long tributary of the Kootenay River in the Canadian province of British Columbia. We loved the effortless flowy vibe of this painting reminding us of floating through pow after a fresh storm.

I'm only building 200 pairs of these Limited Edition skis and hand-signing and numbering each, so stop slacking off and grab a new pair before they’re gone!

Keep up to speed with Jessa on her website and follow her constant adventuring on Instagram

The Slacker™

A lighter ski that also charges hard, making it the least nerdy touring ski in the world

“The Slacker” is an all-terrain freestyle ski designed with uphill efficiency, while maintaining the solid, intuitive downhill performance J skis are known for. Built with the backcountry in mind, its weight-conscious aspen core construction coupled with maple running over the edges gives it a light yet one-of-a-kind solid feel. There's a subtle tail notch in the tail for reliable skin tail clip retention making touring easy without looking like a skimo nerd. We also offer pre-cut Pomoca skins that fit perfectly and are ready to go touring right out of the box! Unlike others, the Slacker is at home ripping around the resort as it is out of bounds, leaving traditional uphill specific skis behind. Smash, surf, play and have more fun adventuring off the beaten path. Go earn ‘em!

"This is the perfect crossover ski; light, playful and stable. It has great edge-to-edge feel that makes turning feel like buttering bread with a warm knife."

- Freeskier Magazine

"While lightweight, you won't sacrifice performance coming back down. If your goal is to play on bigger lines and sidecountry powder, The Slacker will help you achieve it."
